Job Description
The City of Caldwell is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer/SRO.
TYPE: Part Time Patrol / SRO
The School Resource Officer (SRO) supports and facilitates the educational process within Caldwell USD 360 by providing a safe and secure environment through building and establishing meaningful relationships with students and staff and proactively interacting with the school community to ensure the enforcement of city and state laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection, or investigation of crime. The incumbent will work effectively with students, parents, school personnel and community agencies to support teaching and learning in the schools. The SRO will patrol district property to protect students, staff and visitors from physical harm and prevent loss to district property resulting from criminal activity.
SALARY: To be determined based on experience and training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma required. Associate / Bachelor degree preferred. Valid driver’s license is required. Kansas Commission on Peace Officer’ Standards and Training (KS-CPOST) required; Certification as a Peace Officer must be completed prior to making an application; Must hold a D.A.R.E. Instructor certification or be willing to obtain within one (1) year; Advanced Certifications (Instructor, Drug Identification, etc.) a plus. A minimum of 3–5 years of work experience in law enforcement in a traditional law enforcement agency or school environment required. Ability to work with youth and adults in the school setting.
