Job Description

The City of Sedgwick (pop. 1,700) is accepting applications for multiple part-time police officer vacancies. Sedgwick is located approximately 20 miles north of downtown Wichita with city boundaries split into both Harvey and Sedgwick counties. The police department as currently constituted consists of a working police chief, one full-time officer, and up to eight part-time officers.


The department is led by Chief Brian Daily who joined the department on June 1. His current focus is on modernizing the department and improving its professional image. All applicants should exemplify that vision and possess a proactive, self-motivated mindset that seeks to add value to the organization while interacting with the community and serving the people of Sedgwick.

Officers will be asked to primarily work weekends and special events with some occasional opportunities during the week to back fill other officers who are on leave (e.g. sick, vacation, training).

Because we work intimately with both Harvey and Sedgwick counties, part-time officers have an excellent opportunity to build a network of strong relationships within the region. The City of Sedgwick is supportive of individuals who are looking to build a resume and transition to a full-time position with another agency.

  • KLETC Certifcation to serve as a full-time officer within the State of Kansas is strongly preferred

  • Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
  • Must pass background check and drug screen
  • No Brady/Giglio issues
  • $15.00 hr.
